Ministries
SJBC seeks to love God, love people, and make disciples together. Here are the various ways we are reaching our community and are equipping the saints for the work of ministry
Children
Raising children in the fear and admonition of the Lord has always been an integral aspect of Christian life and ministry. At SJBC, we recognize and honor that this is a responsibility that the Lord has given primarily to parents. We seek to come alongside them and support them in that task.
Our children’s ministry program (ages 2- grade 6) is on Wednesdays at 6:30. It is a time where we teach the kids through music, bible stories, activities, and games. We always need help for this important ministry, ranging from teachers, helpers, and smiling faces lending a helping hand! If you would like to serve in the children’s ministry, contact Drew & Ashlee Martin or Kylie Moyer.
Sunday Morning Worship
Sunday Morning worship is at the heart of all our discipleship. Acts 2:42 tells us that the believers “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.” All of this happens effectively and primarily in our Sunday morning worshipーthrough reading and preaching the Word, singing together, fellowship, the Lord’s Supper, Baptism, and prayer. The church is undoubtedly more than Sunday morning, but it is never less.
Sunday morning worship is not just about being fed. We serve and encourage others on Sunday morning with our presence and involvement, so we commit to make it a priority. (This means attendance is not just a Sunday morning decision, but a Saturday night decision!) We serve and encourage by being diligent to hear the Word proclaimed and allowing the Spirit to let the Word change us. We serve and encourage by being committed to not just hear the Word but to be doers of it (James 1:22). We make the Word effective by being evangelistic throughout the week, prayerfully seeking to have gospel conversations, and inviting people to hear the Word of God as opportunities present themselves.
Welcome Team
Our welcome team is responsible for helping visitors feel welcomed and at home at SJBC. Our welcome team also helps people assimilate into the life and culture of the church. If you would like to join the welcome team, contact Olivier Jean Marie.
